The power of the cloud. A new look at virtualization

We use XenServer. It is a virtualization platform, powered by the Xen hypervisor. We also developed many VMs: all these workstation blocks are virtual (see blocks). As a counterpart, a lot of other open source software entities are also involved.

Every workstation has a multifunctional MFS server assigned to it. Most of the labs involve communication with the MFS. Apart from the MFS, every WS has a local area network emulator assigned to it. We made individual scheme for each place

For example: the laboratory assignments may be done at the workstation on the laboratory site. In order to teach students to work in a group, the laboratory assignments can be done by teams of two or three people. The formation of the teams, allocation of assignments, control over the course of the assignment and the organization of protection are all carried out by the teacher responsible for laboratory work.

Every workstation has a multifunctional MFS server assigned to it. Most of the LAs involve communication with the server. All the changes are saved on the server until reboot, as in the case of the WS. The reboot is carried out through the teacher's software interface with the help of a special utility.

Apart from the MFS, every WS has a local area network, or LAN, emulator assigned to it.
